The Test Telephone for use in all operating conditions. This robust and reliable equipment was designed to meet British Telecom requirements and is available commercially.

Representing the latest advances in analogue telephone test equipment, including a 10-number memory store, the 290 offers two modes of operation and TX- with built-in Ringer for call indication.

The 290 is the ideal answer for engineers who work in exchanges, and or at customers' premises.

Designed to make the Job easier

  • Push button keypad with loop disconnect and DTMF dialing.
  • Ten number memory store of up to 24 digits (with in-built memory support battery) each plus last number re-dial for up to 24 digits.
  • Line polarity indication
  • High impedance monitoring circuit (more than 20k Ohm) prevents corruption of data traveling on the line during test.
  • Audible ringer and microphone mute.

Designed for flexibility

  • Operates at high line current (up to 150mA) for use in the exchange or in the field.
  • Earth and time break recall.

Designed for durability

  • Resistance to "raw" 50 volt supply protects the test telephone.
  • Water resistant construction manufactured in high impact polypropylene for all environments.
  • Brightly coloured, durable and rugged.

DTMF signalling

Tone "on" 100ms min., "off" 100ms min., level (both tones). -11 to -9 dBm pre-emphasis on high tone + 2dBm +/- 1dBm.

Time/Break recall

Pulse/DTMF = 100 ms

Monitor

20 k ohms minimum.

Line disconnect

Gives "A-B" pair true break (metallic contact).

Meets BS6301.

The 290 Test Telephone meets the following standards: BS6301, BS6305, BS6317 and B.T. specifications LN520 and S1626
